Earlier this month Springbox revealed a squad of 55 players as part of an extended training group before the new season, which closed on 28 June with ‘friendly’ against barbaric people.
Erasmus named nine unaccounted players in his 55-man squad for that struggle against barbaric people, and although it enabled the coach to take a look at a broader group of players, a ‘first choice’ squad will soon be nominated before July tests.
Springbock Boss confirmed that on Saturday evening, he would reduce his squad’s size after taking stock of any further injuries in the United Rugby Championship final between Bulls and Leinster in Dublin’s Croke Park.
“We will wait to see if there is any injury from the URC final and then announce a group of players On sunday It will meet together next week, ”he said.
“Said that, this does not mean that those players are only those who will be in the mixture this year. There are players who are returning from injury within the next few weeks and months, and we would definitely like to see some players who are playing well this season.”
Springbox form steam heads for 2025 season
A little more than two weeks away from their initial match of the season against the barbaric people, Erasmus said that the focus was in the next two weeks and the match itself would have to get its structures as they prepare for one Challenging international session,
He said, “It is difficult to plan around barbaric people because they are a team meeting with players from many different countries, so our attention will be our game in that match and what we want to achieve,” he said.
“This will serve as a good opportunity for players who have returned from Japan to come back to the swing of things, and perhaps to give some players who have not tested the rugby to play at this stage.”
Do you think which ‘bolts’ can be included in the final squad?
