BSNL 5G FWA schemes in India

In a press releaseBSNL said 5g FWA service is a production-grade 5G service with a SIM-cum-cum architecture. It is built on a direct-to-device platform, where the customer complex equipment (CPE) automatically certifies, which eliminates the requirement of physical SIM verification.

Introductory schemes for BSNL 5G FWA service in India will start from Rs. 999 per month which gives speed of 100Mbps. Business and enterprises can also opt for the rupee. 1,499 monthly plan which has a speed of 300Mbps. Its pilot will start by September 2025 in Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Gwalior, Pondicherry, Pune and Visakhapatnam.

The service is said to have a completely indigenous stack, which has an integrated CPE by core, radio access network (RAN) and sellers in India. It was launched at Ameerpet Exchange of BSNL in Hyderabad and tested for gigabyte-class speed. The telecom operator stated that it reduced the speed of 980Mbps (download) and 140 (upload) as 10ms with delay. It is advertised to be ideal for streaming in ultra HD resolution, remote work and cloud gaming.

The 5GFWA service has a self-installed gateway compatible with the current tower grid. This resulted in rapid deployment of traditional broadband services, where trenching or fiber-polying is required according to BSNL.

Additionally, the same indigenous 5G standalone (SA) core, deployed for 5GFWA service, can also serve as the foundation of enterprise solutions such as network splissing and service level agents (SLAS). It is aimed at micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) and smart-manufacturing clusters.
