Furlong ready to roar for lions on third tour

Tadhg Furlong prepared himself for the challenges of a third Lions tour before Saturday’s first game on Australian soil against Western force here in Perth.

The 32 -year -old is an experienced of New Zealand’s last two tours in 2017, which ended in a draw four years ago, when Lions lost.

The Leinsster props, however, was a stallwart of both series playing in all six Test matches and wanted to expand to run under it.

“Would it be good to say that I played again in all three?

“Yes, it will happen. Is it something that inspires me in minutes?

“I think after the result of the previous weekend clearly, we are looking forward to this Saturday, so it is just trying to get its best on the pitch and trying to get the results with the leads,” Furlong explained.

Not long ago, there was doubt that the Ferlong would make the team. A calf stress was the latest in a long queue of injuries that sidelined him a few weeks ago to win most of the missing Leinster’s URC of the previous season.

“There was not a big blast and it was as if you are out for six months and you’re trying to scramble back.

“They are all kinds of short -term injuries, and you are always trying to go back to this game or that game, and I think I was fully invested at the end of the season with the leanster, so it was never felt that you would not fit for anything.

“Is it more emotion to pick up, have you done enough?”

Ferlong will pack in front against Western force with his lencester team partner and now Lions captain Dan Sheehan.

“I think he does not carry it completely forward, knowing Dan, and he always plays well, and I think he has respect for the group.

“I am happy for him as a friend and a team partner.

“He was a big old hooker and I remember he was coming in some scramas sessions.

“It is difficult to find your slot, what is comfortable, what works for you.

“Then it exploded for him only. He is a eccentric. I am not sure at what point, but when he came to the scene, he quickly came to the scene.”
