Lake re -awakened the role of Wales captaincy, which he adopted during Australia’s 2024 Summer Tour and Autumn International.
He has been asked to lead the squad again after his good friend Jack Morgan, one of the two welsmen selected for Australia’s British and Irish Lions Tour, with Scram-Haf Tomos Williams.
“I was just proud of him and was happy for him,” said the lake. “We came together and did a lot together.
“His name was amazing to read. I was flying in South Africa when he came to know and all of us expressed how happy and proud of all of us.”
The lake’s ambitions of their lions were interrupted by six countries affected by an injury, in which he recalled a bicep injury at the beginning of the tournament.
After being absent for the first three matches, the lake was reduced to appearance against Scotland and England.
A series of injured injuries continue with his latest shock, which has so far limited the Osopre Hooker to just 20 caps.
“It’s difficult, but things are for a reason that I think,” the lake said. “But I’m feeling good and my body looks good.”
The 33-man squad in Japan has six unaccounted players and Wales has taken advantage of a month with a month.
“We have taken well and hard training,” the lake said. “This is a new group, so a lot of time has just gone into the construction of relationships.
“It is important to have a certain understanding of each other and how they work.”
