Apple is allegedly digging the idea of using an in-house Artificial Intelligence (AI) model to strengthen new abilities in Siri. According to the report, cupertino-based tech veterans are now considering outsourcing technology instead. For this, two main contenders are reportedly anthropic and openi, who have been asked to train a custom version of their AI model for Siri. If the iPhone manufacturer proceeds with this idea, it will also indicate that Apple is basically struggling to scale his AI technology.

Last year, in its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), Apple first announced the AI-operated features for Siri, including human reactions, the ability to integrate with first-party and third-party apps and the ability to perform more complex tasks to several interfaces.
However, these facilities did not come with launch iPhone 16 series. Even when the first batch of Apple Intelligence began later that year, the company became fed up with the new characteristics of Siri, which delayed many times. Finally, in WWDC 2025, the company said that it was taking time to ensure that this feature worked as an intention and set a time limit for 2026.
Now, according to the report, Tech is considering using veteran AI model anthropic Or Openi for the project. Citing people familiar with conversations, Mark Gurman of Bloomberg claimed that Apple discussed using his big language model (LLMS) with both AI firms. Additionally, it has allegedly asked them to train a custom version of their model that can run on the company’s cloud infrastructure. The iPhone manufacturer allegedly wants to test both models to ensure compatibility and efficiency before finalizing one of them.
If Apple Actually takes this path, it would mean a reversal from its original plans to develop core AI technologies at home. So far, most of the AIs within its apps are powered by what the model of Apple Foundation says.
