Members of the Soshanguve community accused of attacking students with Sjamboks (Video)

The police is investigating an incident in which the disciples were allegedly beaten with Sajambox for allegedly arriving late as a directive from the school.

Police are investigating an incident at Soshangav South Secondary School in Tashavan, where community members allegedly entered the school premises and attacked the students with SJambox under the guise of implementing discipline.

A video made a video on social media platforms on Tuesday, showing an incident, where two students are being killed by two people by two people as soon as they enter the school premises.

In the initial frame of the video, a pupil is shown after two men, both of them holding Sejambox, hitting her legs before running away quickly. The audience, who is out of the frame, can be heard shouting “Ah!” After the boy is a hit.

Pupils allegedly hit with Sjamboks to be late

Another boy is seen entering the frame, where he is hit twice by the first man behind his thighs and then jumps on his feet by another man.

According to reports, students were allegedly attacked to reach school late.

Makashule Gan, the chief organizer of Rise Mazansi, posted a video on his X (East Twitter) account, stating that he received it on Tuesday morning.

He said, “It is alleged that the principal and school governing body (SGB) called the community members to give physical punishment on the school learners, who were late for the school,” he said in the video.

The song claimed that he was told that it is a practice that continues and has been done earlier.

Chief and SGB allegedly approved physical punishment

Member of Parliament (MPS) said that he would take the issue on the issue with Basic Education Minister Shivwe Gwarube, Gauteng Education and Sports, Art, Culture and Entertainment MAC MAC Matome Chiloane and Premier Panyaza Lesufi.

“South African schools have been punished in corporal decorating, and should be the results for principal and SGB officials who approved this sentence of late learners for the school,” said the song.

In response to Gan’s video, Chilon confirmed that the department was aware of the incident. MEC said that the matter is being handled with urgency that demands it.

“South African Police Service (SAPS) is investigating. An attack case has been opened, and the school is opening an overcharging case,” Chiloni said.

“Medical attention has been attracted to the affected learners and receiving psychosocial support.”

Police and internal investigation

MEC confirmed that an internal investigation in the case is going on to establish how it happened. The Congress of South African students (COSAS) and parents has also requested that Principal and SGB chairperson resolved the matter.
