Sabi, in Mapumlanga, a suspected robber met his death in a collision with the police after an armed robbery in a local supermarket. Officials said four armed persons entered the store on Saturday, threatening the victims with firearms and created an unknown amount with an unknown amount before running on foot.
On receiving the notification of the incident, the police immediately responded. The attentive officials located the running suspects, and a chase. The suspects allegedly set the police on fire, causing a retaliation from law enforcement. During the exchange of bullets, a suspect suffered injuries, while another was shot badly, as the police spokesperson was expanded by Brigadier Selvi Mohalala.
On finding the deceased suspect, the authorities discovered 9 mm pistol and 11 round live ammunition in their possession. The remaining two suspects managed to avoid arrests and are currently largely. Fortunately, no police members were reported injured during the shootout.
The injured suspect was rushed to the hospital under the police guard for medical treatment. Investigation of allegations of business robbery, attempt to murder, possession of guns and an inquiry is going on. The Independent Police Investigation Directorate (IPID) will conduct a separate investigation into the shooting incident.
