Apple has brought to the Tata Group to handle the repair of iPhones and MACBOOK tools in its fast growing Indian market, indicating the deeper role of the Indian group in the US Tech Giant’s supply chain, two people familiar with the matter.

In its latest partnership expansion, Tata Taiwan’s Wistron is taking a mandate from an Indian unit of ICT service management solutions, and will repair such sales from its Karnataka iPhone assembly campus after such sales, both sources said.

The acquisition from ICT by Tata is currently underway, both sources said, who denied that they were not authorized to speak on the matter.
Apple and Wistron did not respond to the requests for comments, while a TATA spokesman refused to comment.
While Apple’s official service centers can make basic repairs across India, they will now ship the phone and laptop to facilitate Tata for more complex issues.
Vistron’s ICT, though, will continue to serve other customers except Apple, one of the sources said.
