Malcolm Elias, a person responsible for developing Gareth Bell and Trent Alexander-Aneold, died after a minor illness.
Eleias, head of the academy recruitment, joined the Premier League Club from Liverpool in 2009, first worked in Southampton.
In a statement, Phulham said: “It is deeply sad that we announce the demise of our colleague and dear friend, Malcolm Elias after a minor illness.
“The head of the recruitment of the club’s academy, Malcolm had a great reputation in football to detect and nurture the young talents.
“The effects of Malcolm on modern sports cannot be understood, Theo Walcott, Gareth Bell, Trent Alexander-Aranold, Harvey Elliot, Luke worked and developed with the choice of Harris and J Stensfield, but only a few names.”
Welshman Eliias was born in 1953 and was important in the development of his compatriot at the Southampton Academy.
Bell went to win 111 Wales cap and enjoyed a successful club career with saints, Tottenham and Real Madrid, where he won five Champions League titles.
Meanwhile, England’s Alexander-Aneold won eight major trophies with the Circumcision Club Liverpool Earlier this month joining Real Madrid,
Southampton said, “We are incredibly sad to learn about the passage of Malcolm Elias, which is one of the influential figures in the club’s youth development history.”
