Apple will first offer public beta updates of upcoming firmware for airpods, the company has announced. Last week, after the WWDC 2025 Kenote address, the Cupertino-based tech veteran made the first developer beta update for his audio equipment with several new features in Tow. However, those who are not registered will now be able to experience new features after the Apple Developers are introduced public beta.
Public beta update for airpods
In a news room PostApple announced that it would offer a public beta for the first airpods starting from July. It will be introduced with the first public beta update of iOS 26, iPados 26, Macos 26, TVOS 26 and other firmware. This update is available through the Apple Beta Software Program that provides access to the beta updates to users that have not yet been released commercially.
By nominating their equipment, they can try this new features. They can also provide a response to Apple to any bugle or glitch, which they encounter through the response auxiliary app.
According to the company, public beta firmware will be available for the following models in Apple’s AirPods lineup:
- Airpods 4
- Airpods 4 (with ANC)
- Airpods Pro (second generation)
To enable airpods beta:
- Navigate on settings on iPhone> Bluetooth.
- Choose (i) next to your coupled airpods to open airpods settings.
- In airpods settings, scroll down to find Airpods beta update And togle beta software updates.
However, to obtain airpods public beta updates, users need to run the iPhone or MAC computers to run the beta version of iOS 26 and MACOS 26 respectively. However, support to enable beta through Mac is not yet available and is listed as “coming soon”.
Apple emphasizes that once installed, beta software cannot be removed from airpods unless a non-Beeta version of the firmware has been rolled out. Users will automatically receive additional beta software updates as long as Airpods are enabled to receive them.
