Children spend more time at school at home. SAPS prepares steps for parents and teachers to ensure its safety.
After a week’s rest, the students returned to school on Tuesday, April 8, as the second term of the year began.
As soon as the classrooms recruit, the South African Police Service (SAPS) urged parents and teachers to prioritize student security.
“School safety is often a significant obstacle to learning. Schools are encouraged to establish and maintain a safe school committee,” SAPS said.

Tips for parents for safety of children
Children spend more time in school anywhere other than their home.
Patki The following steps of parents can be taken to protect their children in school:
- Talk to your children
- Teach your children that fighting is wrong
- Keep an eye on your child’s internet use
- Ask about safety and emergency plans
- Play an active role
- Make a safe route map for children from school and traveling
- Teach children to follow traffic signals
- Teach children not to talk to strangers
- Encourage children to walk in groups
- Teach them emergency number
“Parents can go to school for their children a safe and more valuable learning experience,” said this.

Security tips for teachers
Teachers are also played an important role in maintaining a safe learning environment. SAPS recommended the following measures:
- Apply zero-tolerance policies
- Apply drugs- and gun-free zone
- Policies that declare that anything is illegal from school is illegal on school
- Attach students in maintaining a good learning environment
- About how to share information about how to develop protocols between SAPS and school
- Provide referral services for students who are depressed or otherwise under stress
- Include students in designing and running programs such as colleague assistance, school crime clock programs
- Establish a safe school committee to oversee the development and implementation of the initiative.

Major school calendar dates for public schools
According to the Department of Basic Education (DBE), a word ended on March 28, giving students a 10-day break.

- School starts: 22 July 2025;

- Public Holiday: National Women’s Day (9 August 2025), Heritage Day (24 September 2025); And
- School holidays: 6 to 10 October 2025.
Fourth term:
- School starts: 13 October 2025;
- School closed: 10 December 2025;
- Administration days: 11 to 12 December 2025; And
- Public Holidays: Dame of Recolration (16 December 2025), Christmas Day (25 December 2025), Day of Goodwill (26 December 2025).
