Boxing Day Football: What has happened to the Premier League Fixment?

The Premier League is a global brand. Not everywhere where they have a TV deal Christmas – and hardly any of those countries plays a match on Boxing Day, so December 27 seems to be an easy fit.

The base kick-off time for that match week is 15:00 GMT on Saturday, December 27.

Games can be transferred – but not all of them. In theory, all four television kick-off slots used on Boxing Day in the previous season, including 20:00 GMT, can be used.

Match can also be shown on Saturday, or Sunday, 28 December. All this is still yet to be decided.

In the package E of the new TV deal to be implemented in August, it is included in the context of an unclear “six additional matches” without saying that it means saying.

But there is no mention of a weekend anywhere in the deal when all 10 games will be screened.

Therefore, while any game was transferred to Boxing Day, especially for TV objectives, all those living on December 27 are unlikely to be shown live.

For those people who eat football on boxing days from morning to night, there is some good news.

The EFL will have a complete program in their three divisions – and all their sports are streams.

And, in 2026–27, Boxing Day falls on Saturday – and it is already a weekend, more likely to return to a full match program that day.
