BSNL launched a portal for doorstep delivery of SIM card with self-KYC verification: how to get it

Bharat Scholar Nigam Limited (BSNL)) Has introduced a new service that enables the doorstep delivery of the SIM card. The state -owned telecom operator has launched a new online portal that allows consumers to provide SIM cards in their home without leaving the campus. Consumers can choose between prepaid and postpaid SIM connection options. They will need to verify a self KYC (Know your customer) before the SIM card delivery is completed.

Customers need to fill a customer registration form for KYC, where it presents the choice between postpaid or prepaid SIM card. When selecting for BSNL SIM card home delivery service, the portal asks for the following information:

  1. Pin code
  2. Applicant name
  3. Alternative mobile number

Once the information is recorded, an OTP is sent to an alternative mobile phone number for confirmation. The telecom operator says that consumers can contact the helpline number 1800-180-1503 for any doubt or question.

With the move, BSNL has joined private players like Airtel, Reliance Jio and Vodafone Idea (VI) in the Indian telecom sector to offer home delivery of SIM cards. However, it is unknown whether home delivery is free from service cost or meets any fee. All three private telecom operators provide this service free for free.
