Gurni was speaking on Monday as he prepared for the house and admitted that there was no time for the wild ceremony on Sunday night.
After the victory over South Africa on Saturday, the pair had to come through matches against the Republic of Ireland and Germany on Sunday before matches, before defeating Wells in Wales.
This provided a mental test but Garn appreciated his player, which he is tipping to reach the top of the game.
“Josh was the best player for me in the competition,” he said.
“His scoring was unrealistic, pumping him in the Perfect Times. He has been in a joy to play with him throughout the year, a Future World Champion, Future Major Champion and just.
“We made decisions simultaneously. He wanted to throw first and I was happy to do it.”
Killing double eight for seal win was a sweet moment for Gurni, waiting for the third major title since the 2018 players’ championship.
Of the four players in the final, Gurney is the lowest rank, so there were some veins because he agreed to take out the match winning double eight.
He said, “Those boys have been there and have done more often to me in the last few years, so I am still echoing.”
