Students have condemned the Higher Education Department to fail to maintain important websites.
Students and professionals in the higher education sector harassed the government to fail to maintain their websites, which are important to provide information.
Yesterday, people talking to the citizen confirmed that the website of higher education and training is not working since the department.
Department website error
Paris Mokeena, a leader of students at Ehlangeni TVET College, said that useless websites related to education officers have been affecting students for a long time.
Mokeena was reacting to the fact that when the department’s website, when clicked, an error message was shown stating that she was rejected.
“As students, we are complaining about the relaxed online services of the department and nothing has been done to resolve the issues. Our college has two websites; one does not work at all, while the other always has glits,” Mokena said.
‘There is no place for websites that are not working’
“This is important of the department’s website and our college, as among other things, students use them to check their registration and progress of other related issues,” Mokena said, who is also a regional leader of the DA students’ organization.
“There was a time in which the students thought they were registered according to the website, but when they reached the campus, they were told that they were not accepted.

“In today’s digital world, there is no place for websites that are not working properly. As students, we were about to do everything online, but many people manually work after realizing that the government does not care about the online glitter on its online platforms,” Mokena said.
Department ‘not aware’
Employees of a department, who did not name because he was not authorized to talk to the media, said the system was working well and did not know that it was not working.
He said that many employees were not aware of the alleged technical online glitter.
“This time I did not know about the failure of the website, but I know that many people are complaining about those problems when using our online services.”
Both websites are inaccessible
The department has two sites – www.dhet.gov.za And www.dhe.gov.za – But both were not accessible. Websites serve as a central center for post -school education, training and information about skill development in the country.
It also provides details on policies, initiatives and resources related to universities, TVET colleges and sector education and training authorities.
The department did not answer the questions sent to them.
