Scotland began their discovery for a place in the World Cup 2026 for Denmark on 5 September, with Greece and other group C with other opponents.
“The discussion has always been about reaching the World Cup,” Maxwell said. Steve is desperate to reach there.
“We have found a squad that is desperate and fully able to reach there. We have found a nation that wants it to reach there. We need to go behind everyone to ensure that we find ourselves in USA, Mexico and Canada next year.”
Clarke took over after a second magic for Alex McCish and from 1993–2002, there are just two games away from Creig Brown’s record 71 matches.

“I think, since Steve came, the missing link for him is the World Cup,” Maxwell said. “He has gone to the back-to-back euro.
