Genini on Android will soon connect to apps, even if the user disables activity log, will not affect privacy

Google shared an email to some users on Tuesday, which increased the concerns of privacy between some users. Many users posted screenshots of email on social media platforms, highlighting a special line where the company said that Gemini AI assistant on Android would be able to connect to some apps, whether the app activity is closed. Confusion has occurred since the convenience is also called the app. However, it turns out that mountain view-based tech veterans can fully mention something else.

Google’s email may be misunderstood

In Email, the company said“Mithun will soon be able to help you use phones, messages, WhatsApp and utilities on your phone, whether your Gemini app activity is on or off.” Later in email, however, Google mentions, “If you don’t want to use these features, you can close them in app settings.”

Now, the illusion was this. Gemini Extension that enables AI Assistant to connect and perform tasks on the first-party and third-party apps, also referred to as “apps”. Due to this, users got contradiction in Google’s email. The users also realized that the company did not properly explain how to stop the facility.

As Explained By 9to5google, “Mithun Apps Activity” is somewhat different. It is a setting, which is currently available only on the website, which controls whether Google saves the user exchanged with Gemini in an activity log. This setting is available through the profile menu on mobile apps and on the side panel on web clients. You can also find it Here,

When this setting is turned on, Google user can use data “to provide, improve, develop and personalize Google products and services and machines and machine-learning technologies.” Information is also available to human critics. When closed, this data is removed after 72 hours (once the server processes the data to generate AI output).

Earlier, when this setting was discontinued, Mithun AI could not connect to AI Assistant on-Device app, as mentioned in the report. However, with the update of 7 July, this will no longer be the case. Users will not need to enable the activity log to connect Gems, phone apps, messages and utilities.

It turns out that the update will not worry any new privacy, but will reduce an existing pain point for the company.
