According to the post, the title of email is, “We have made it easy for Mithun to interact with your device.” It goes on to explain how the company is updating how its AI assistant for Android devices interacts with some apps. These include phone apps, messages, WhatsApp and utilities.
The respective part of the email mentions that Gemini will be able to interact with these apps “whether your Gemini app is the activity or shutdown.” The Gemini app is a rebranded name for the extension that allows AI assistant to do some tasks on some first-party and third-party apps. So far, users are capable of going to apps settings in Gemini to connect and close those apps to connect with chatbott.
Google’s phrases reveal it that users will have no option Gemini Whether or not you can collect data from these apps, increasing the concerns of privacy. While the Google assistant can do the same thing, the risk of accessing data with the AI model is that it is not clear how data can be processed, can be stored and later used by the company.
Later in email, the company says that if users do not want to use these features, they can close them in the app settings page. This part is misleading for two reasons. First, it directly contradicts Google In the previous paragraph, and second, the company did not share how users could turn off the facility.
As mentioned above, currently, the only way to disable access to these apps is going to the Apps page inside the Mithun app. However, the company has mentioned that this facility will work yet.
It is likely that this email was sent only to beta testers, who can get new ways to disable these interaction capabilities with an update of 7 July, but we cannot confirm it due to lack of information. Tech veteran has not made any official announcement about the same.
