Google is allegedly closing the facility of Android’s instant apps later this year. According to the report, the mountain view-based tech is eliminating support for convenience due to its low use and adoption among giants. These apps such as the interfaces will not allegedly work after December 2025, and the company will also end support for tooling support from its application programming interface (API) and its integrated development environment (IDE), Android Studio. In particular, last year, the company killed Kromecast and replaced it with the Google TV streamer set-top box.

According to Android Authority ReportA notice for immediate apps shutdown was seen in the latest canary build of Android Studio. Developer Leon Olegan allegedly observed the message, which appeared as a pop-up on the immediate app dependence.
Based on the screenshot shared by the publication, the notice reads, “Instant apps support will be removed by Google Play in December 2025. Publication and all Google Play Instant API will no longer work. Tooling support will be removed in Android Studio Oteer Feature drop.”
Google spokesman Nia Carter also told Regarding the shutdown of the service, citing low use and engagement of immediate apps, and developers select other devices for app discovery as primary reasons. The spokesperson said, “This change allows us to invest more in devices that are working well for developers, and help direct users to download full apps to promote deep engagement.”
