NYDA CEO amid youth unemployment crisis

NYDA says its new leader brings strategic focus and economic expertise as the youth reaches the level of unemployment crisis.

The National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) has officially welcomed the appointment of Ndumiso Kubheka as its new CEO.

His leadership comes at an important time in the fight against South Africa’s young unemployment and economic boycott.

The agency said on Wednesday that Kubeka’s experience as an economist and strategist would strengthen its impact. This will help the young South Africans to “place the country at the center of the country’s development priorities”.

NYDA Executive Chairman Asanda Luvaka said, “The signs of the appointment of Mr. Kubeka renewed the energy, strategic direction and commitment for the status of the youth of South Africa at the center of the country’s developmental agenda.”

“The NYDA family welcomes the appointment of Mr. Kubeka and is ready to work together to unlock the full potential of the youth of South Africa.”

An important moment for youth development

NYDA said that Kubeka’s appointment comes during the time of significant economic pressure.

South Africa continues to face one of the most young unemployment rates globally. There is limited access to opportunities, and constant structural barriers retreat young people.

The agency said in a statement, “NYDA’s mandate is paramount to run change and use the ability of young people.”

Kubeka’s appointment is seen as a reaction to these challenges.

The agency hopes that their leadership will accelerate efforts to promote inclusive growth, expand young entrepreneurship and promote skill development.

Economic credit and youth advocacy

Kubeca is a highly respected economist with expertise at the risk of macroeconomic strategy, business and investment, governance and industry.

He has served as the CEO of KH Equity Partners and currently presides over the board of Da Vinci Institute.

According to NYDA, Kubeca also sits in South Africa, the investor service of the Board of Moody. He contributes to the innovation platforms such as South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) and Top Technology 100 (TT100) program.

Sedibeng District Municipality, Gauteng, recognized the President’s post for his work in the provincial government and youth empowerment, Kubeka has many educational qualifications.

These include an MBA, a postgraduate diploma from Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS) and BCom Award in Economics from UNISA.

NYDA said, “During his career, Mr. Kubeka has played a strategic role in strengthening the link among practical solutions to carry forward the economic policy, institutional governance and the socio -economic participation of young people.”

Praise for outgoing CEO

The agency also thanked Mafiki Duma, Executive Director of Corporate Services. She was acting CEO during the transition period.

“His commitment and calm guidance have ensured continuity during the agency’s time of transition,” the statement states.

On the hull with Kubeka, NYDA said it is ready to raise its efforts to run inclusive development and support the aspirations of the youth of South Africa.
