The Department of Basic Education (DBE) has announced a period as a special school holiday on 29-30 April 2025 and 2 May. This means that students get an additional week of brakes.
Special school holidays are on Tuesday, April 29, Wednesday, 30 April and Friday, May 2.
Freedom Day falls on Sunday, but will be seen on Monday, 28 April. Workers will celebrate their day on Thursday, May 1.
Although this may be a festive time for school going children, parents may have to make special arrangements to protect their children while going to work.

DBE said, “There are also opportunities for teenagers to start their freedom and freedom.
Internet danger

Some suggestions to keep them safe during school holidays
- Tell your child to avoid talking to those who do not know when you are not.
- Make sure your child understands that they should always tell you if a stranger has approached them and has never maintained a mystery.
- If your child should use the lift, ask them only to use lifts with friends and if they are uncomfortable then don’t feel worried about getting out.
- If your child is lost, they should ask for help from a police officer, grown up with another children or someone working at a nearby shop.
- Do your children learn their address and telephone number from the heart.
- Try to keep your children in your vision or any other adult you trust;
- While going to places, always arrange a meeting point for you and your child, when you get lost.
- Make sure you travel together, or there are seats simultaneously on the bus or taxi.
- Always for public toilets with your child.
- Stick to busy, well -lighted streets and avoid shortcuts through the street;
- If your child thinks someone is following them, they should cross the road or go to a place with many people like a bus stop or shop.
- Encourage your child to speak whether they are being harassed or they think they may be in danger.
