To make a positive difference in the lives of South African youth.

Samsung’s education-focused, corporate social responsibility (CSR) program attempts to promote innovation and empower the youth through technology; With the final objective of addressing social issues.

These programs provide assistance to the disadvantaged youth and aims to cultivate creative thinking by providing important skill training required by the local economy.

By doing this, Samsung is creating opportunities for young people to have positive impact on their communities and society.

Samsung spoke to some beneficiaries from his education-focused initiatives who operate through technology, and this is what they had to say:

Siabonga “Siya” Mojlefa Tashbala originally part of the Samsung Innovation Campus (SIC) program from QWAQWA in the free state was partnership with the Central Technology University (Cut). SIC is a global initiative that raises youths between 18-25 years of age in future technologies to enhance their employment by focusing on AI, IOT, Big Data and Coding.

Sia explained: “Through this SIC program I gained experience on hands through paper coding, peer programming and projects and these skills have helped me solve real -world problems. The program also taught me some important soft skills that are essential in work environment, including communication, important thinking, skills and ability to collaborate with others.”

Another beneficiary, 26 -year -old Mulalo NDau undergraduate him in mathematical science and studied in mathematics and mathematical figures at the University of Johannesburg (UJ). He fulfilled his honor in Risk Analysis (Cum Loud) at the University of Free State (UFS).

According to Malalo, Samsung had light at the end of the Burcery Fund tunnel. Mulalo got funding from Samsung when he needed it to complete the final year of study. He said, “I had lost funding for my studies in my final year and had to go back home, but Samsung came to me, he said.

“This Burcery Fund paid for my annual fees and housing in my final year and postgraduate study. It provided me an allowance for a laptop with monthly food and living stipend.”

After completing his postgrade, Malalo gave him an internship opportunity.

“When the duration of the internship ended, Samsung gave me a full -time position as a process reform data analyst/reporting expert. I am very grateful to Samsung persons who helped me succeed in their role,” he said. In an attempt to pay further, Mulalo also works as a volunteer in women growing in Stem, as she is also a growing woman in technology and mathematics.

Malalo said that she always wants to be one of the mentors in Samsung Solve for tomorrow (SFT) program. “This SFT opportunity came at the right time and has been a wonderful experience. I am learning something new from the participating learners and most importantly how to become a great patron.”

An 18 -year -old learner from Nzumbulo Todani, Thohoyandou, MBILWI secondary in Limpopo.

Nzumbulo SFT is one of the beneficiaries of the competition that challenges students to use Stem (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) skills to solve real -world problems in their local communities. His participation in the SFT competition has proved invaluable – he credits his educational achievements for his experience in the program in 2024.

Nzumbulo was awarded the top learner in the province for 2024 NSC exams. In addition, he was honored for receiving 300/300 in two gateway subjects: Physics and Geography.

“When I participated in the competition, I played the role of a team coordinator, managed the daily landscape of the project and planned to control quality on all papers and final presentations written with prototypes. The competition left me with priceless communications, leadership, plan, evaluation and time management skills.”

Thoriso is the owner of a 32 -year -old male entrepreneur and KTO Digital – a business process automation, software development services and background screening software as a service (SAAS) solution provider. He currently lives in Johannesburg, but is originally from Limpopo and is one of the beneficiaries of Samsung EEIP Entrepreneurship Development Program.

Thoriso became part of the program when he responded to a public call for applications. At that time, their business was required to support the company’s development objectives.

Since being a part of the EEIP program, Thoriso won the Nedbank Business of the Year Award in 2022.

His company also started its product and recognized the business in 2022 as a credit bureau.

“Other direct benefits that we had received from being part of the program included: Grant funding, asset financing and constant business matership that our business needed to move forward, Thoriso said,” We strongly believe that the skills we have received from this EEIP program has been contributed to business regulatory regime and strategic business development. “

Through these education-centered CSR programs which are run by technology, Samsung is actively promoting the transfer of both employment and entrepreneurship opportunities that are essential by the youth and local economy of the country.

The admirer of the youth participating in Samsung’s programs is a clear indication of the impact being made by the company in South Africa.
