KZN increases tension after the effigies collide with the police. Officials allegedly attacked the pupil in the video as part of the investigation.
The Quazulu-Natal (KZN) police is investigating the authenticity of a video in which police officers are reportedly shown to assault with a high school effigy as they took him to a police van.
A video is being aired on social media of KZN students in Jozini, allegedly from Sinthekel High School, Ezibukweni High School and Gugulsive Secondary School, who appear to protest.
The video taken from a vehicle shows the students walking with a gravel road before the speed of the South African Police Services (SAPS) van, who follows the running students.

The police van eventually stops under a tree, and a police officer runs towards a pupil in a school uniform and hits it on the head.
Another police officer enters the frame and kills the pupil’s legs, before he draws the disciple, apparently, towards the van.

In KZN, police said that they had noted video.
Police spokesman Colonel Robert Robert Netshunda said on Thursday, “Such (conduct) is unacceptable, and the authenticity of the video will be examined, and if the police are used using excessive force, necessary action will be taken,” Police spokesman Colonel Robert Robert Retashunda said on Thursday.
Meanwhile, the Jojini police arrested four students for public violence on Wednesday morning, attacked the officials, and caused malicious damage to the property during a violent protest outside a local school.
Netshiunda said that according to reports, high school students of two schools marched in a non-security school and held violent protests at the gate.
“During the protest, the learners damaged the police vehicles with stones and also attacked the police officers,” he said.

‘Police will work decisively’
Police arrested four students between the ages of 18 to 20, but later left them in custody of their parents.
The suspects were scheduled to appear in the Ubombbo Magistrate’s court on Thursday to appear with their parents or parents.
“Students, learners and all others who want to march or oppose are reminded that their actions should not violate the law as police will act decisively to protect life, livelihood and property,” Netshunda said.

Meanwhile, another video has surfaced on social media in which Jojini students are reportedly shown to protest on Thursday morning. In the video, the students are standing on the roadside, which they have blocked to prevent vehicles from passing.
