WP appointed former Protys Speedster as head coach

Western province of cricket association (wpca) Has announced appointment of Rory Kleinwallt Men’s head coach on a three -year contract as Western province.

The North Committeer returns to Kleenvelt Nulands after a successful tenure in the UK as the lead bowling coach for the County Cricket Club.

The 42 -year -old appointment follows the departure of the former head coach, Salig Nacredian, who concluded his term at the end of the 2024/25 season.

No stranger for WPCA setup

Kleenwell, East Cape Cobra and Western Province Legend, have no stranger for the WPCA setup, served as an assistant coach under Nackerdiene from 2022 to 2024.

Prior to his infection in coaching, Kleinwallt enjoyed a 17 -year career in 2002/03, making his debut to the western province. He earned the Proteus Cap in all formats, 148 first class, 181 List-A, and 163 T20 matches.

After retiring in 2019, he infected in coaching, initially as an assistant coach for WP before playing the role of an interim bowling coach for Protease in 2023/24. Her recent experience as a leading bowling coach at Northamptonshire CC respected her expertise.

‘Good understanding’

WPCA CEO, Corey Van Zil said: “We are very excited about the appointment of Rori as we believe that he will enhance the current team culture and strategy set by the team of Salig and WP men. Rori needs to become the team’s dynamics and a consistent winner.”

“Rory has been part of this team in recent years. We believe it will ensure a smooth transition for the team while setting up its own performance objectives. These objectives will align the goal of the overall company to win the performance. WP Men’s team aims to have a major force in South African cricket. Rory’s appointment is a significant step towards achieving this goal.”

Kleinwallt could not catch his excitement: “Return to Western province as head coach is a great privilege and I am very excited to achieve things.”

“After representing the province in 20+ career as a player and assistant coach, it is a great honor for me to be a part of this organization. I feel ready for this challenge and it is an opportunity for me to build this glorious association’s success. As a coach I am always learning through my journey and can see a winning culture to go into this position.

WPCA president Johannes Adams said: “Rory’s appointment reflects our commitment to excellence. Their mixture of local insight and international experience makes him an ideal candidate to inspire our players.”
