With this expansion, Zoom phone is now available in Mumbai, Delhi National Capital Region (NCR), Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh and Telangana Telecom Circle. It was available in the first two circles. In particular, service is licensed by the Department of Telecommunications (DOT). Separately, the company also launched its contact centers in the country. The purpose of both services is for enterprises, later an Omnichannel solution that units the customer and employee engagement.
Zoom announced enterprise-centered solutions in India
In a press release, Zoom made two new India-centric announcements. Zoom phone, a replacement for the Ligi Phone Branch Exchange (PBC) system, is now available in four more circles. Seva was first rolled out in Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu Telecom Circle in October 2024.
Now, it is being expanded to Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Karnataka (Bengaluru), and Andhra Pradesh and Telangana (Hyderabad) circles. The Delhi NCR Telecom Circle includes the center area of Delhi, Ghaziabad, Faridabad, Noida and Gurugram.
The zoom phone supports inbound and outbound calling service through a public-switched telephone network (PSTN) and consolidate the integrated communication requirements for businesses with a single AI-first platform in the zoom workplace.
The service can be integrated with the Zoom Contact Center to provide additional facilities such as call transfer, call forwarding and call recording to the enterprises. The company says that zoom phone service can also be used to connect areas where it is not available. This can be done through the company’s self-service portal that provides a native phone number based on the specific telecom circle where the service is available.
Coming to the Zoom Contact Center, it is a contact-selector-e-service solution (CCAAS) that supports several channels including voice, video, virtual agent, social media, email and messaging app. This offers to bring your own byoc capabilities that allow businesses to maintain their existing PSTN service provider and root voice traffic through Zoom’s contact center cloud.
